I am in high demand this month...high demand as a bridesmaid, that is. I am going to be away from you this weekend as I go down to Houston to take part in a wedding that I helped bring about. You see, sometimes Cupid needs a little help and a couple of years ago, while living and working in Houston, I set up a friend of mine with a friend of my relatives. It was July 4th when the idea struck and there have been fireworks ever since! So as I am donning my purple satin this weekend, know that I will miss you.

Come to Sunday School!!! Guest teacher Misty Turner will be back and she would like to have more than 1 pupil this time!

Due to the high incidence of travel starting on Saturday (Emily, Tiffany) and scheduling conflicts (Debby, BillBill, Annette and myself ), we will not be having our Christmas party on Saturday. Instead, here is a list of things you can do:

  • spend the weekend drinking eggnog with your family
  • carol in your neighborhood
  • sit on Santa's lap in the mall
  • shop for my Christmas present
  • wrap my present
  • bake Christmas cookies
  • dress as an elf and wave at cars
  • walk a dog...preferably your own
  • hug a grandma...doesn't have to be your own
  • spread merriment and good cheer everywhere you go

We will be having a Christmas/New Year's Extravaganza after the 1st. Be looking for details!

Christmas is a time of giving and receiving and for two members of our Sunday School class, Christmas came early. On Sunday, Katie Murphy and Emily Redell had the distinction of being both giver and recipient. They both received items that they had left in the Rose of Glen during a recent trip. Katie welcomed back her I Love Lucy purse, her makeup, her digital camera, Elisa her phone, her billfold (chock full of cash), and her peace of mind. Emily put to rest her terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day of a week ago with the return of her pink diamond birthday ring. So congratulations and merry Christmas, girls!

Special recognition is to be given to Chad Wadle for his dedication to Sunday School attendance, even when part of the class was out of town. Chad was present on Sunday for a one-on-one lesson with Misty. Chad has proven that he is unafraid to stand (or in this case, sit) alone. We salute you!

Just a reminder -

Wednesday, 12-12-07 is Christ in Christmas, our annual Lottie Moon offering. The money that we raise will go directly to international missions. Our youth department has a goal of $600. This means that you need to clean out any purses, couches, and backpacks you own!!!

Not only will we be coming together to further the work of God in the world, but we will also be eating ourselves into oblivion. Bring finger foods to share with the group; drinks will be  provided.

You will also want to come to see the Christma-fied youth room. I think you will be filled with joy and wonder at the holiday transformation! See you tomorrow!
