They don't tell you what happens when you grow up. All fun is stripped out of your life and replaced with something called "responsibility." I would highly recommend staying in childhood as long as you possibly can. The reason for this dire warning is because I spent most of this week housesitting, dogsitting, and brothersitting. It was a LOT of work. Let me just share a few of my least favorite moments from this week with you:

  • having to sleep with the aging rat dog
  • having to study with the aging rat dog
  • having to pet the aging rat dog
  • having to clean up multiple rat dog accidents

I have always thought of myself as a dog lover. Really, I have. I like seeing them in the backyard, I will pet them, and I always cry when they die. Isn't that enough? I realized this week that I want a strong, independent, non-germy dog. Unfortunately, we have two dogs and neither of them fit this description. The lab is clingy...and she thinks she is a lap dog, so don't think that you will be allowed to sit on the couch without her curling up in your lap and pretending that she is a 2 lb. teacup poodle. As for the other dog, I think that you can tell my issues with her from reading the aforementioned bullet points. My favorite part of the day was leaving the house - I couldn't stand the continual following, whimpering, and attention the dachshund lavished upon me. It was suffocating and drove me crazy. I did allow her to sleep with me in order to preserve the peace in the house, but I washed my sheets TWICE before I would get back in them. I am so glad that my family is back from vacation...and I am submitting my resignation immediately from the Dog Lovers Club.

Oh, did I mention we have two cats as well? Don't even get me started. And although the pictures may deceive you, these animals are ANNOYING!

This past Wednesday, I had some great peeps show up...in fact, I can almost count them all on one hand. Katie, Hollie, Marianne, Emily, Jordan, & Robbie are the Dream Team of the week. They will all be receiving something very special this weekend because you know what? sometimes it pays to be where you're supposed to be! With that being said, I would like to extend a very warm invitation to ALL OF YOU to come next Wednesday. We will be finishing up our Music Series and I guarantee, you won't want to miss this. And to my dream team, way to go!

The Roots groups will be receiving their own t-shirts for participating in small group discipleship. Since we have been studying "How to Walk the Talk", my proposal is for t-shirts that bear the phrase, "Walk it Out". If you have suggestions or comments on what you think the t-shirt design should be, please let me know.

I am also working on some other media projects that I will need your help on. I am starting a campaign and I am looking forward to telling you all about it - stay tuned!

You've heard of the lamb lying down with the lion in heaven, right? This is a small foreshadowing of what this will be like...the panther eating with the broncho. Check our our Facebook for more pics.

Yesterday was a crazy day. Following the tailgating party on Friday, and my painting escapade on Saturday, we had Life Chain on Sunday. Life Chain is a national event that calls people who identify themselves as "pro-life" to come together, line streets, hold signs, and pray. The event in Midland took place at the intersection of Andrews Hwy and Midkiff with people on all sides of the intersection, forming a cross. It was an interesting experience - first of all, to stand out there and be identified as people who believe in the rights of the unborn. This, if you did not know, is not a popular position. There were fingers raised, thumbs-down given, and yes, even profanity and yelling, but it really didn't matter. I thought about how mortifying it can be to take such an "un-cool" position and then open yourself up for public ridicule and disdain. But, what a small price to pay compared with what Christ did for us and what millions of believers are undergoing all over the world.

I want to thank all of those who came - Berkley, Anna, Allie, Katie, Hollie, Millie, Kali,  Robbie, my parents, Rhett, & Addie. It is a really powerful statement when young women are willing to say, "We've made our choice. We believe in life." I was proud to be a part of something that is so important in our world today. God spoke to me many times as I stood there and I look forward to sharing more with you later. But for now, I just want to tell you that I am unapologetically pro-life. I think its one of the most important choices that I have ever made.

Wow. That's just about all I can say when I look at the disaster that is my desk. My mom would say, "How can you work like that?" I would probably reply, "I don't work." Just kidding, of course. I would say, "I know where everything is," which is only partially an exaggeration. The thing is, I need everything that is on that desk. EVERYTHING. Some for function, some for comfort, some for fun...but I need them all nonetheless. Can you name 10 things on my desk? If you can, I will give you a $10 giftcard to anyplace you like. You must reply within a week. This should give my
1-1000 readers a chance to reply. Haha.
